The U.S. assistance is extremely important for Ukraine. Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman claimed this during the meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the U.S. to Ukraine Geoffrey R. Pyatt on Friday.
In this context, Volodymyr Groysman called signing of the “Act to
support freedom in Ukraine”
by the U.S. President Barack Obama to be a “seminal event”, having noted that
this proves strategic partnership relations between our countries. Chair of the Parliament noted that today Ukraine faces lots of challenges in foreign and domestic policy. According to him, all country’s vital spheres require systemic reforming. Otherwise, no progress would be possible, and the Verkhovna Rada should play an important role in supporting reforms on a legislative level.
Volodymyr Groysman claimed the necessity of restoring confidence in the Verkhovna Rada and establishing transparent and open system of its work.
Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada informed about elaboration of a Plan for Revival of Ukraine for 2015-2017, stressing that this plan was referred to the new Government. In this context, he expressed hope that the Cabinet of Ministers will claim its readiness to organize a donor conference.
Volodymyr Groysman emphasized the importance of financial and
institutional support of reforms on the part of our partners. In his turn, Mr. Ambassador stressed that the Verkhovna Rada “is an extremely important institution for the development of democracy”, and highly appreciated active work of parliamentary committees.
Geoffrey R. Pyatt said that “there is no ambiguity regarding the necessity to support Ukraine” within the U.S. government and society.
