Ukrainian Party was represented by Chairperson of the Committee of European Integration Hanna Hopko, First Deputy Chairperson of the Committee of European Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze, Chairperson of the Committee on National Security and Defence Serhii Pashynskyi, and MP of Ukraine Oleh Osukhovskyi. The delegation of the Committee on Armed Services of the Congress of the United States of America was chaired by member of the House of Representatives Mike Rogers. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt also participated in the meeting.
At the meeting, the Parties discussed importance of European prospects for Ukraine, receiving the Action Plan on NATO membership, a chance to accede to this organization, and participation of our country in the Euro-Atlantic security system. Moreover, the Parties stressed the issues on energy security, scientific and technical, as well as military and technical cooperation, etc.
The Ukrainian Party emphasized the need to activate interparliamentary dialogue between the two countries. Ukrainian Parliament representatives talked about internal political situation in our country, particularly, about the situation in the East of Ukraine and on the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, stressing that these are temporarily occupied territories. Ukrainian MPs thanked the American Party for supporting the Ukraine Freedom Support Act which focuses on providing Ukraine with assistance against aggression of the Russian Federation.
The Chairperson of the delegation of the Committee on Armed Services of the Congress of the United States of America emphasized the importance of this visit to Ukraine and expressed hope that this visit will activate bilateral cooperation at all levels and give a chance to receive information about the situation on Ukraine from original sources.
