O.Syroid stresses the need to establish the Interim Investigative Commission on elaborating amendments to the Constitution as soon as possible

Representatives of the parliamentary coalition initiate establishing the Interim Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on elaborating the bill on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine.

Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine O.Syroid informed this during the briefing on Tuesday.

In her words, only amendments to the Constitution can complete quality renewal of judicial and local authorities; and establishing such Commission is the fastest and the most efficient way of elaborating amendments to the Basic Law. In this context, O.Syroid called on the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Ukraine to uphold this proposal on establishing the Commission.  

Answering the questions, O.Syroid claimed that yesterday the issue on establishing the Interim Investigative Commission was discussed at the meeting with representatives of the coalition's factions. "We have agreed on this", she said. According to the Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Interim Investigative Commission should also involve famous experts on constitutional law and persons authorized by the President.

O.Syroid addressed deputy factions with a proposal to shorten the period of winter holidays for deputies and to use this time for continuing the first session of the Parliament until the start of the next session in February, as well as for elaboration and consideration of the bill on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine.  

The Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine believes the initiative to continue the Parliament's work will be upheld in the session hall.

Answering the questions, O.Syroid informed that the Parliament intends to address the Government in order to receive the draft law on budget as soon as possible. "All factions are waiting for the draft budget. This issue is urgent, since the Parliament can not consider the draft law on budget without adhering to legislative procedures even if such procedures are forced to be reduced", she added.

The Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada thinks that elections to local councils on the basis of new electoral law shall be held in the nearest future.
