The first meeting of the Committee on Culture and Spirituality was held on December 10 with participation of Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Culture Viacheslav Kyrylenko and public representatives.
Chairperson of the Committee Mykola Kniazhytskyi claimed that the main principles of the Committee's work will be "openness and publicity". Then, he presented the Committee's composition and its competence.
Managerial staff of the Committee includes: Iryna Podoliak – First Deputy Chairperson of the Committee, Viktor Yelenskyi – Deputy Chairperson of the Committee, and Mariia Matios – Secretary of the Committee.
Chairpersons of the subcommittees are:
Inna Bordiuh – subcommittee on creative activity, art, and cultural and educational policy;
Mariia Matios – subcommittee on state policy in the sphere of development and use of state language and languages of national minorities in Ukraine, book publishing and distribution;
Viktor Yelenskyi – subcommittee on freedom of conscience and religious organizations;
Serhii Taruta – subcommittee on protection of historical and cultural heritage;
Vadym Novynskyi – subcommittee on charity and funding of culture.
The Committee members upheld the bill on amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine (re support of national publishing) (Reg. No. 1316).
Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Culture Viacheslav Kyrylenko presented the Government's Action Program.
Following the discussion, MPs expressed a joint stand on the necessity of urgent reforming of the culture and elaborating the strategy of country's cultural development.
