On May 10-12, 2023, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko will pay a working visit to the capital of the Republic of Lithuania – Vilnius.
The program provides for the participation of the First Deputy Speaker in the Global parliamentary congress for the future of the world. The event will also be joined by the President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda and Speaker of the Seimas Viktorija Cmilyte-Nielsen.
The participants will discuss the role and responsibility of parliaments in shaping and governing the future of the world. The Congress will consist of three thematic sessions devoted to the most relevant and strategically oriented geopolitical topics, a round table of heads of delegations and a number of parallel sessions open to parliamentary delegations from all over the world.
It is expected that the Congress will end with the adoption of a joint statement on inter-parliamentary cooperation in shaping the future of the world.
During the visit, Oleksandr Korniienko will also hold a number of bilateral meetings with high-ranking Lithuanian officials and members of inter-parliamentary security organizations, including the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Duarte Pacheco and the Co-Chair of the NATO-Ukraine Interparliamentary Council Audronius Azubalis.
In addition, the First Vice Speaker will take part in the events dedicated to the Day of Europe and the commemoration of the heroic struggle of the defenders of Ukrainian Mariupol.
