Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met in Warsaw with Marshal of the Senate of Poland Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska. The parties discussed the security situation in Ukraine and Europe, strengthening defence cooperation, countering russian disinformation, and joint humanitarian projects.
Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized the importance of continuing parliamentary dialogue in the context of meetings within the Weimar Triangle format, which serve as additional opportunities to enhance cooperation and coordinate joint efforts aimed at strengthening European security.
During the meeting, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine briefed his Polish colleague on the latest massive russian strikes on civilian and energy infrastructure, as well as Ukraine’s preparation for the heating season.
Separately, he spoke about the work of the Ukrainian Parliament that continues to exercise its functions even during air-raid alerts.
Significant attention was paid to security issues. According to Ruslan Stefanchuk, russia is testing not only Ukraine’s resilience, but also the readiness of NATO countries to respond to new threats.
“Strengthening air defence, sanctions pressure on the aggressor, the development of defence technologies are issues that need joint decisions,” emphasized Ruslan Stefanchuk.
Separately, the parties discussed russia’s attempts to spread the dissension between Ukrainians and Polish and to undermine trust between the two nations.
“Through disinformation, provocations, and hybrid operations, the enemy tries to undermine trust between our nations. Our task is to maintain unity and not allow complicated issues to become a tool of russian influence,” noted Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Humanitarian cooperation, including joint projects on establishing shelters for Ukrainian schools, was also discussed. Ruslan Stefanchuk underlined that such initiatives contribute to the protection of children and enable ensuring the continuity of the educational process amid russian aggression.
“I thank the Polish people, Senate of the Republic of Poland, and Madam Marshal personally for their support, solidarity, and continuous advocacy. Ukraine and Poland have a lot of common tasks. Furthermore, the most important is not to allow russia to divide us, because the security of all Europe depends on our unity,” emphasized the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
