On Thursday, May 9, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified five Interreg intergovernmental agreements on European financing of interregional cooperation projects. This was announced by the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniyenko.

“Interregional cooperation projects are very important. This is an advantage that will not be after accession in the future, but is already there now, it is an opportunity to use opportunities for development. Every community and its residents should see and feel the results of regional development projects,” the First Vice Speaker emphasized.

According to him, the ratification of the agreements will allow to direct significant resources to the development of border and other territories.

In addition, Oleksandr Korniyenko said that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has recently adopted draft law No. 9450, which will allow the development of cross-border cooperation not only for the border regions, but also for all regions of Ukraine.

“European integration is taking place at many levels, including our communities. Everyone will have equal chances to get access to all resources. But at the same time, it is necessary to increase the capacity for implementation. In particular, we are talking about English language skills, the ability to prepare drafts, and understanding of processes. This is a great opportunity that should be actively used to improve and bring us closer to the European level,” said the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
