Dear Latvian friends!
I sincerely congratulate you on the 105th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia!
We are immensely grateful to you for the unprecedented support that Latvia has provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the war. Military and humanitarian aid from Latvia has exceeded more than 1.3% of the national GDP of this Baltic country.
On behalf of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, I would like to express special words of gratitude to the Saeima of Latvia and speakers Inara Murniece and Edvards Smiltens, who led the Latvian Parliament in the most difficult times for us, for all the resolutions adopted in support of Ukraine, our accelerated accession to the EU and NATO and condemnation of russian aggression.
We are grateful to the Government of Latvia for its efforts to rebuild Chernihiv region and support for internally displaced persons, treatment and rehabilitation of wounded Ukrainian soldiers. We greatly appreciate the support and leadership of the current President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkevics, and his predecessor, Egils Levits.
We will never forget the kindness and solidarity of Latvian cities that have welcomed and accommodated tens of thousands of Ukrainians, women and children, and sent buses, ambulances and humanitarian aid collected by citizens to Ukraine.
My warmest greetings to Latvian and Ukrainian volunteer organisations in Latvia. In particular, to the Confederation of Ukrainian Organisations of Latvia “Viche”, the Latvian donation fund Ziedot.lv, and representatives of Latvian business, who we have implemented many volunteer projects in Ukraine with, helping educational institutions and our military at the front line.
