Today in the Parliament, the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland Bartosz Cichocki, who is completing his four-year diplomatic mission in Ukraine.

Olena Kondratiuk thanked the Ambassador for his constant large-scale work, solidarity, deep understanding and support of Ukraine.

“Mr Bartosz and I have a lot to remember. From the first day of the full-scale invasion to the formation of real mechanisms to help Ukrainians who sought temporary shelter in Poland,” the Vice Speaker said.

She stressed that Ukraine will never stop thanking Poland, which hospitably accepted more than a million internally displaced persons fleeing the war, mostly women and children. Olena Kondratiuk also reminded that as a token of this gratitude, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine took a unique historical step: it adopted the Law on the Special Status of Poles in Ukraine, which mirrors the rights granted to Ukrainians in Poland in the special Law on Assistance to Citizens of Ukraine.

“Of course, Bartosz Cichocki and I talked about the importance of diplomacy in our good neighbourly relations, in particular, parliamentary diplomacy! We are also waiting for the official results of the parliamentary elections in Poland,” the Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine summed up the meeting.
