The Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk met with a delegation of the Ukrainian World Congress.
The Vice Speaker noted that the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) is an international organisation of Ukrainian communities in the diaspora representing the interests of over 20 million Ukrainians in 65 countries.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the UWC has provided over $50 million in military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
During a meeting with UWC First Vice President Stefan Romaniw (Australia) and Vice President Vitorio Sorotiuk (Brazil), Directors of the UWC Mission to Ukraine Serhii Kasianchuk, Tymish Martynenko-Kushliansky and Olha Fediuk they discussed joint opportunities and actions, particularly in the countries of the Global South.
In particular, the parties discussed a number of issues: humanitarian aid, countering russian disinformation, return of Ukrainian children forcibly removed, abducted and deported by russia, education and awareness, combining efforts of the Ukrainian diaspora with national societies, as well as grant and project assistance.
Finally, the meeting touched upon the issue of commemorating the victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine in 1932-1933 and the 90th anniversary of this tragedy.
