The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko held a working meeting with the delegation of the Parliament of Canada – the Vice-Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Parliament of Canada James Bezan and member of the Committee Patrick Kelly.

The parties discussed the development of interparliamentary relations between Ukraine and Canada, as well as the necessary steps to end the war.

“The support and implementation of the Peace Formula proposed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi is among the most important steps to end the war,” said Oleksandr Korniienko.

At the same time, he stressed the importance of a long-term programme of military assistance to Ukraine, air defence of Odesa and civilian maritime infrastructure, as well as strengthening sanctions pressure against russia and preventing its attempts to circumvent the sanctions already in place.

“Ukraine is grateful to Canada for all the help it has provided to our country! In particular, Canada has become one of the ‘champions’ of sanctions policy. This is really important,” said Oleksandr Korniienko, thanking for all the military, financial and humanitarian assistance provided.

In conclusion, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine noted that it is necessary to move on, taking even more decisive steps towards victory.

The meeting was also attended by members of the Ukrainian Parliament: Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, the Chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the European Union, and Yehor Cherniev, the Deputy Chair of the Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence.
