During the official visit of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk to the French Republic, the Chief of Staff of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Viacheslav Shtuchnyi and the Secretary General of the Senate of the French Republic Eric Tavernier signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the presence of the leaders of the Ukrainian Parliament and the French Senate.

The parties agreed to ensure the development of mutual cooperation in areas of mutual interest. In particular, assistance in the legislative procedure, monitoring of the Government’s activities and evaluation of public policy, strengthening of parliamentary work, status of parliamentarians and ethics, decentralization and evaluation of public policy on local self-government, international relations and parliamentary diplomacy, as well as rules of protocol and organization of events.

The Memorandum is aimed at monitoring and supporting the process of Ukraine’s application for membership in the European Union through the transfer of knowledge and exchange of best practices on European issues.

Accordingly, the Ukrainian and French sides will conduct missions to exchange experience and information, organize thematic study visits and courses.

In addition, the Chief of Staff of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Viacheslav Shtuchnyi, held a bilateral meeting with the Secretary General of the Senate of the French Republic, Eric Tavernier, to discuss the implementation of the signed Memorandum.
