This was stated by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk on the air of the national telethon “United News”.

He reminded that Ukraine is actively working on the international front to ensure that russia receives a fair sentence for its terrible actions and unprovoked war. And today, routine work in this direction has effective results that we could not even dream of a few months ago – “from total “no” to recognition at the level of parliaments”.

“There are three main topics related to recognition. The first is the recognition of the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people, the second is the recognition of the russian federation or the regime that exists in russia as a terrorist and russia as a sponsor of terrorism; the third is the recognition of what russia is doing in Ukraine today as a terrorist issue,” Ruslan Stefanchuk noted, adding that all three issues  intersect with the historical consequences of russia’s existence and its essence as a terrorist state.

The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed that Ukraine managed to unite almost the whole Europe and the world on this difficult path of recognition.

“This is a collective unification around not just Ukraine, not just the armament of Ukraine, but around the fact that Ukraine is fighting for the bright side of the present, because it is on the frontline, on the front of defending democratic values,” Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized.

According to him, there is still a lot of work ahead for russia to get a proper assessment of its actions and the war unleashed, particularly, there is a methodical work on the exclusion of russia from all international organizations such as the UN, the UN Security Council, etc.

“We must clearly understand that terrorists are not talked to, they are isolated, because they are a virus that is spreading in the civilized world. Today, the recognition of this status, in fact, should be equal to the fact that russia becomes an outcast from the entire civilized world,” assured the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament, stressing that such a consolidation of international decisions and efforts will point russia to its place on the world map.

He also commented on the decision of the UN General Assembly to introduce a mechanism to compensate Ukraine for the losses caused by this war.

Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that this decision is political, but it is important that it is and has become the beginning of the development of a legal mechanism in the issue of reparations. As an example, he cited Canada, which proved by the relevant legislative act that it is possible to find mechanisms to deprive russia, as an aggressor state, of the relevant objects of its property.

According to him, the Parliament of Ukraine is also currently working on a number of relevant projects that will deal, firstly, with depriving russia as a terrorist state of the so-called international “judicial immunity”; secondly, dealing with the issue of selling the property belonging to russia or its oligarchs and entities, and satisfying all reparations claims that will be made by Ukraine at the expense of these funds.

“Only russia must pay for what russia has done, and this is justice. We must work together to develop a mechanism that will make it possible to put the entire “check” for the war on putin, his clique, the entire russian federation and every russian citizen,” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine emphasized.
