On September 4, 1991, a blue and yellow flag was hoisted over the dome of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for the first time. 29 years ago, the dream of many Ukrainians to see the national flag over the building of the country's legislature finally became a reality. This decision was not easy and provoked heated debates in Parliament, but the desire to publicly confirm Ukraine's independence won.

The blue and yellow flag was, is and will be the main symbol of the Ukrainian people. Its appearance on Parliament united us, inspired us, and gave us strength to continue the struggle and move forward.

There have been difficult periods in our history: difficulties that have had to be overcome, contradictory issues that have always been resolved. But today, as 29 years ago, the main symbol of Ukraine, the blue and yellow flag, proudly flies over the building of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Its colors always remind us of the price we paid for independence, and motivate us to do everything possible for the development of our state!
