The parties discussed defence assistance, in particular, the importance of air defence systems to protect Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure as russia intensifies its missile terror.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko emphasised Ukraine's expectations from the NATO Summit in Washington, namely, the adoption of political and practical decisions on Ukraine's membership in the Alliance: “It is clear that this will be the biggest contribution to European security and stability in the coming years.”

In addition, the First Vice-Speaker informed about the activities and results of the work of the NATO-Ukraine Interparliamentary Council (UNIC), as well as the Ukrainian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

“It was a frank dialogue. I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to meeting in Kyiv as well,” Oleksandr Korniienko concluded.

For reference. On 22-23 March, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko is on a working visit to the Republic of Lithuania.

The parliamentary delegation also includes Oleksandr Merezhko, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation.
