The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko took part in the Conference “26-2-14: The War Started in Crimea”, organised by the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The participants of the event discussed why the de-occupation of the peninsula is not only about the territorial integrity of Ukraine. In particular, as the First Vice-Speaker noted, it was also about inter-parliamentary cooperation to liberate Crimea.
“First of all, we inform our partners and colleagues of the real facts – what happened, the reasons, the events of the 1990s,” said Oleksandr Korniienko.
At the same time, he noted that the large number of participants in the Crimean Platform is the result of the powerful work on the issue of returning the peninsula: “We also have to work more with the 'non-Western world' on the Peace Formula and on armed support.”
“When we talk about 'non-Western' countries, we work with their parliaments and leaders. It is important for us to support their large countries and communities,” said the First Deputy Speaker, adding that the Arab world understands both the problems of indigenous peoples and the security of the Black Sea region.
“The liberated Crimea means security beyond the borders of our country. The situation is not easy – there are many challenges. We will continue to convey the truth and work on the de-occupation and reintegration of Crimea,” he stressed.
In addition, Oleksandr Korniienko noted that thanks to the work at all levels, there are already powerful results that no one is going to stop at – the Crimean Platform and its parliamentary dimension, progress in the implementation of the Peace Formula, and the high-quality work of the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
“The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrii Yermak, Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Tamila Tasheva – all of them, together with their teams, are achieving important results for Ukraine that bring us closer to the Ukrainian victory – the return of all territories, justice and accountability of the aggressor,” the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said in conclusion.
