The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko and Vice Speaker Olena Kondratiuk paid tribute to the participants of the Revolution of Dignity.

“Today, we honour the feat, courage and dedication of the participants of the Revolution of Dignity who defended democratic principles, ideals of freedom and the European future of our country. And who gave their lives in this struggle. 10 years ago, the Ukrainian people showed what unity and resilience are. What is the true strength of the Ukrainian spirit. What freedom and dignity are. The Heavenly Hundred heroes died fighting for a free future for Ukraine. And it is our duty to remember the names of each of them,” the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine stressed.

“We remember all the events and people who stood on Maidan, defended and fought for the future of a strong Ukraine. They gave their lives for freedom and dignity. Their names are with us forever. The struggle they started has been going on for 10 years now – for freedom, for a powerful state. We are grateful to them. Eternal honour to each and every one of them,” said First Vice Speaker Oleksandr Korniienko.

“10 years ago, the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred fought and gave their lives for our freedom and Ukraine's European choice. 10 years ago, they became the first Heroes of the russian-Ukrainian war, which continues to this day. The Revolution of Dignity and the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred won for us the chance and opportunity to be ourselves, to be Ukrainians – free and dignified. To be Europeans, to create and determine our own future. We have actually achieved a lot in the 10 years since Maidan. We have come close to EU membership and rebuilt a strong Ukrainian army from the ruins. And all of this is thanks to the heroism and feat of the Heavenly Hundred,” emphasised Olena Kondratiuk, the Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
