First of all, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed gratitude to Bulgaria for its practical support of Ukraine and military-technical assistance, and welcomed the implementation of the agreement on the transfer of armoured vehicles to Ukraine.

“New supplies of defence products are extremely important for Ukraine, for saving the lives of Ukrainian citizens,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

The parties also discussed Ukraine's path to the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine thanked Bulgaria for supporting Ukraine's progress and the EU's decision to provide Ukraine with €50 billion in assistance.

Special attention was paid to bringing the russian federation to international legal responsibility and developing national legislation to confiscate frozen and sovereign russian assets. “russian assets should be used to compensate for the consequences of russian aggression, defence and restoration of Ukraine,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

At the same time, he noted that he counts on Bulgaria's help and assistance in the process of returning illegally deported Ukrainian citizens.

In a joint statement after the meeting, the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rosen Zhelyazkov, expressed unconditional support for the Ukrainian people, “who are fighting a fierce struggle in the war that is raging in Europe in the 21st century”.

“Bulgaria unconditionally supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine, does not recognise any encroachments by russia and the intention of russia to hold elections in the occupied territories of Ukraine,” said Rosen Zhelyazkov, stressing that Bulgaria will fully support Ukraine in its struggle and will economically support those refugees who are hiding in Bulgaria from the war.

He also said that Bulgaria would support Ukraine on its path to integration into the European Union: “We will do everything possible to support the values that Ukraine is defending today at the cost of its lives.”
