The parties discussed a number of important issues, in particular, Ukraine's path to full membership in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the implementation of the approved programme, the implementation of necessary reforms in Ukraine, as well as the reconstruction of Ukraine and the implementation of the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
“Ukraine is on the verge of a very sad date – the second anniversary of the full-scale invasion. Ukraine has united and continues to unite a coalition of countries that support our country in this struggle,” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said, expressing his gratitude that the OECD is part of this coalition.
“The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development is a unique international organisation whose opinions and conclusions are taken into account by the European Union, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the United States, and the G7,” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed, noting that the visit of the OECD Secretary-General is an important signal.
The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine thanked for the OECD's strong reaction in condemning russia's barbaric aggression against Ukraine, as well as for the OECD's review of all mechanisms of cooperation with russia and belarus.
In addition, Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that Ukraine continues to move towards full membership in the OECD. “Ukraine’s membership in the OECD is a marker of readiness to join the EU. We are taking steps on this path, first of all, we continue to work on the implementation of the OECD Programme for Ukraine, which we launched together last year,” he said, adding that the Government had approved the Action Plan for its implementation, which includes 129 points in various areas, from state regulation to the development of science and education.
In particular, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has set up a parliamentary group responsible for cooperation with the OECD, which will be chaired by the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko.
Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed hope that this group would produce significant results, including in the area of multilateral coordination to attract a donor platform to help Ukraine rebuild and restore, which is part of the overall vision contained in the President Zelenskyi's Peace Formula.
“Ukraine counts on the support and continuation of joint work with the OECD within the framework of a multilateral donor coordination platform to assist Ukraine,” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine concluded.
