The decision of the European Union leaders to open negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU is fair – now we have a lot of work ahead of us.

This was stated by the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk in a commentary to Interfax-Ukraine.

"The decision of the EU leaders to open negotiations is very fair to Ukraine, and above all to Ukrainians. This is a merit of our soldiers who are defending the country and the whole of Europe. Our women who, in forced emigration, have demonstrated the best qualities of the entire Ukrainian people, who, as a result of russia's attack, have clearly defined their European identity," said Olena Kondratiuk.

The Vice Speaker noted that Ukraine has a lot of work ahead of it.

"At the next EU summit, the negotiating framework will be determined, and a difficult stage of sectoral negotiations will begin, where Ukraine will have to fight for quotas, preferences, and subsidies. I am currently on a working visit to Poland, which went through this process brilliantly. I believe that we need to establish a serious exchange of experience to prepare a negotiating team," said Olena Kondratiuk.

The Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is confident that Ukraine will go through this process. "I am very, very happy with the EU's decision! Ukraine is Europe!" emphasised Olena Kondratiuk.
