On the International Volunteer Day, the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk visited Odesa Naval Lyceum named after Vice Admiral Bezkorovainyi.

She said that today she had fulfilled her promise to the lyceum students during her previous visit: she handed over another batch of humanitarian aid to the institution.

The lyceum received, among other things, a boat equipped with a motor and a trailer for transporting it, 4 diving kits, fiction by Latvian authors in Ukrainian, food and sweets.

Olena Kondratiuk also said that the aid was a joint initiative with volunteers from Latvia: The Confederation of Ukrainian Organisations of Latvia "Viche", with the financial support of the Latvian woodworking industry concern Latvijas Finieris and the Latvian foundation Ziedot.lv.

"I am very pleased that our joint efforts have equipped a bomb shelter for the lyceum students! The room was equipped with special moisture-resistant wooden furniture: wardrobes, beds, chairs. This was one of the most important needs of the lyceum, which we promised to address during our last visit," said the Vice Speaker and added that Latvijas Finieris, together with its Lithuanian partner UAB DUV, provided equipment for the basement rooms of the bomb shelter.

According to the Vice-Speaker, this mission also involved Vilnius Technical University (VILNIUS TECH), which developed special modular systems of transforming furniture, ensured their production and delivery to the Naval Lyceum in Odesa.

Olena Kondratiuk thanked everyone involved, in particular, the volunteer group Fearless 2022 from Horodenka, who helped with the delivery of the humanitarian cargo and the boat from the Ukrainian-Polish border to Odesa.

"I am incredibly grateful to everyone who joined in and did everything possible and impossible to ensure that our lyceum students, the future of the Ukrainian Navy, felt real international support and care on such a day as Volunteer Day.

And we, together with the Commander of the Ukrainian Navy Oleksii Neizhpapa, wished the lyceum students new knowledge and success!" the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said.
