The working meeting took place within the framework of the Summit of the Heads of Parliaments of the G20 countries in Jakarta, Indonesia.

«It is symbolic that our work at the G20 Heads of Parliament Summit in Indonesia began with a meeting with true friends - a delegation led by Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons of the Parliament of Great Britain.» Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk said.

Olena Kondratiuk informed that on behalf of the Verkhovna Rada and the Ukrainian people, she thanked Lindsay Hoyle MP and Great Britain for their leadership in sanctions against the russian federation and the comprehensive assistance provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion.

«Great Britain is our real and reliable partner, which fights together with us for a better future. We highly appreciate this country's significant contribution to ensuring Ukraine's defense capability, and financial stability, supporting the economy, and providing shelter and humanitarian aid to Ukrainians.» Deputy Speaker noted.

She also added that since February 24, the Government of the United Kingdom had allocated more than 2.3 billion pounds for the needs of the Armed Forces in the form of providing weapons and equipment. The training program for 10,000 servicemen of the Armed Forces was also launched. Opportunities have been created to treat up to 50 wounded Ukrainian soldiers every month.

«Great Britain has hospitably sheltered more than 100,000 Ukrainians and announced the provision of 400 million pounds of financial and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. We are sincerely impressed by the fact that some members of the British Parliament provided their apartments and houses for temporary residence of Ukrainian families. We are grateful for such friendly support and solidarity in difficult times for the Ukrainian people.» Olena Kondratiuk emphasized.

She noted that sanctions were also imposed against more than 1,600 russian individuals, legal entities, and russian-related persons, and 900 billion pounds of Russian assets were blocked in British banks.

«Taking into account the recent events, the need to create a new strategic partnership along the Ukraine-Great Britain-Poland line is becoming more and more urgent. We also talked about this with my colleague.» Deputy Speaker stressed.

During the meeting, Olena Kondratiuk noticed that the issue of creating a new Marshall Plan for the reconstruction of Ukraine through the efforts of the international community was also raised. Great Britain is confident that it will remain our main ally not only in the armed repulse of russia but also in the reconstruction of Ukraine, in particular, the Kyiv region, over which this country has taken patronage. We welcome the initiative of Great Britain to organize an international conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine in 2023 on its territory.

«In turn, Sir Lindsay Hoyle noted that Great Britain does not recognize the results of illegal referendums and attempts to annex Ukrainian territories by the russian federation. The United Kingdom will maintain an entire course of comprehensive support for Ukraine, its sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The leadership of the Parliament of Great Britain will also take part in the First Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform, which will be held in Croatia at the end of October.» Olena Kondratiuk said during the meeting.
