They discussed, in particular, the introduction of sanctions on Russian energy, economic and humanitarian aid, and inter-parliamentary cooperation.

"Every liter of fuel paid to the russian federation is two more shells flying over Ukrainian cities," Oleksandr Korniyenko said, thanking Estonia for the sanctions and economic support.

"We understand that this is not easy for Estonia and your economy, so we are grateful for the courage in this direction," he said.

The First Deputy Speaker also stressed the need for assistance from the Republic of Estonia to Ukraine in influencing decisions on russia's membership in international organizations.

"It is a severe problem that russia continues to be a member of the UN General Assembly, a member of the UN Security Council, a member of many organizations – from sports to specialized economics.  In our opinion, this should not be the case," Oleksandr Korniyenko said.

In addition, the First Deputy Speaker stressed the need to continue to emphasize the support of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the world parliaments to recognize the events in Ukraine as genocide of the Ukrainian people committed by russia, as well as the investigation of these crimes.

"It is important to continue to attract attention so that no one is tempted to keep silent or show other pictures as if everything was not as it was," said Oleksandr Korniyenko, adding that everyone in the Kyiv region knows what was happening.

"We will be grateful for the further strengthening and continuation of military cooperation," the First Deputy Speaker stressed. He also noted the good and productive dialogue between the parliaments of Ukraine and Estonia.

"Our main goal is Ukraine's accession to the European Union, which begins with the application.  Colleagues, now present with us, will confirm that everything marked "integration" passes into the session hall at full speed," Oleksandr Korniyenko emphasized.

In particular, the First Deputy Speaker stressed that the process of decentralization in Ukraine is real, not just in words, as fellow mayors of Estonian cities know:

"In Europe, this reform is recognized as one of the most successful Ukrainian reforms."

"Ukrainians are now fighting on the battlefield for the right to be citizens of the European Union, so all issues must be removed. And we will continue to work to achieve full membership," said the First Deputy Speaker.

"We are grateful to the Republic of Estonia for its comprehensive support and parliamentary dimension. We have a long tradition of relations,” said the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament.

"Your last visit was an important testament to your courage and willingness to be with us. This was the first visit of the speakers to Ukraine,” the First Deputy Speaker stressed.

"As a sign of our long parliamentary cooperation, I would like to pass, unfortunately, posthumously, to your colleague, the former Chairman of the Estonian-Ukrainian Parliamentary Group Johannes Kert, a Certificate of Honor, which we did not have time to present, but it is important for us to fulfill this duty." said the First Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Oleksandr Korniyenko, and stressed that this charter shows deep respect for the Parliament of Ukraine.

The Speaker of the Estonian Parliament, Juri Ratas, supported and confirmed the country's intentions to help rebuild Ukraine, in particular, the Zhytomyr region.
