The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, took part in the solemn inclusion of Lviv University in the EC2U Alliance of European Universities and the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and the seven most influential universities in the EU.

 These are the University of Coimbra (Portugal), the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University (Romania), the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (Germany), the University of Pavia (Italy), the University of Poitiers (France), the University of Salamanca (Spain) and University of Turku (Finland).

 "International cooperation in the field of education helps and creates opportunities to study, work, share experiences and inform the partners about the state of affairs not only in academic but also political, socio-economic life of Ukraine. Therefore, I wish success for the academic community of Lviv University in the implementation of shared ideas and research in the international educational space ", - Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized.

 The proposed cooperation between universities will cover all areas related to teaching and learning, research, cultural and sports activities.  In particular, the implementation of a mobility program for scientists, academic staff, and students, the development of joint certificates, educational programs, publication of collaborative editions, implementation of research projects, organization of joint events, summer schools, etc.

 The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine drew attention to the significant contribution of educators, who set a particular goal - to ensure and realize the rights of education citizens of Ukraine who lost this opportunity due to the war.

Moreover, he also informed that the academic community of Ukraine had addressed an open letter to the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union (EU), and each EU member state with an appeal to stop cooperation with Russian institutions, funding research, and educational projects with Russian institutions, suspend their membership in international organizations until the end of the war.

 Ruslan Stefanchuk is convinced that today the whole of Europe is on the side of Ukraine.  He emphasized that the Ukrainian Parliament and the Ukrainian state have done and will do everything possible to ensure that the Ukrainian and European education systems work to promote the universal values ??of freedom and democracy.
