A feature of Russia's war against Ukraine is the aggressor's desire to inflict the most human suffering.  This was stated by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk during the Conference of Speakers of the EU Parliaments (EUSC).

"How else can one explain the targeted shelling and bombing of residential areas, hospitals, schools, churches, humanitarian corridors, and vital infrastructure.  We are talking about war crimes.  We are talking about an attempt of genocide of the Ukrainian people.  We are talking about the responsibility that will inevitably come," Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed.

According to him, all those involved in war crimes should be held accountable and brought to justice.  Ruslan Stefanchuk added that the world is not indifferent to the suffering of the Ukrainians - aid comes to us from everywhere.

"Everyone who has been to the Polish, Slovakian, Hungarian, Romanian or Moldovan borders these days knows what human solidarity looks like.  Everyone who walks the streets of Ljubljana, Warsaw, Brussels or Madrid these days will understand what indifference and humanism mean,” he said.

At the same time, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that if the aggressor is not stopped and the source of pain is not destroyed, only the worst can be expected.

"More victims, more dead children, more refugees.  And most importantly, we should expect more war, because Russia openly says that its goals go far beyond Ukraine.  This should be realized and acted upon immediately.  The action plan is clear - the toughest sanctions, support for the lives of Ukrainians and providing us with the means to wage war," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
