Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk met with the Polish delegation headed by Vice Marshal of the Polish Sejm Ryszard Terletsky. On the Ukrainian side, the meeting was also attended by MPs of Ukraine, members of the Parliamentary Assembly of Ukraine-Poland.

The Vice Speaker thanked the Vice Marshal and all members of the multiparty delegation of the Seimas, which includes deputies of both the majority and the minority, for this visit, solidarity, unanimous and strong support for Ukraine.

“I am grateful for the Resolution of the Polish Sejm adopted on January 27, on our joint initiative with Ryszard Terlecky, on solidarity with Ukraine and the call of NATO and EU member states,” said Olena Kondratiuk.

It was also emphasized during the meeting that the Polish government and the opposition speak with one voice when it comes to Ukraine, its freedom, territorial integrity and future membership in the EU and NATO. Polish parliamentarians stressed that a strong and independent Ukraine and its security are also a guarantee of security for Poland and the whole of Europe.

At the same time, Olena Kondratiuk proposed to the Seimas to adopt a new resolution on the inadmissibility of recognizing the independence of the so-called ‘LPR’ and ‘DPR’ in connection with the infamous decision of the Russian State Duma.

In turn, the Vice-Marshal of the Sejm Ryszard Terletsky assured that Poland never and in any form would not recognize illegal entities in the territory of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

As co-chair of the Ukraine-Poland Parliamentary Assembly, Olena Kondratiuk appealed to the Polish Sejm to create a Crimea Platform on its base, as has already been done in the Lithuanian Seimas. During the working meeting, the parties noted that today Ukraine has a unique opportunity for parliamentary diplomacy.

“The entire world's attention is focused on us, and this is a good opportunity to intensify inter-parliamentary cooperation with those countries whose parliaments will decide on Ukraine's accession to NATO,” said the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.
