Ukraine will never give up its European prospects. This is the path we will definitely take. And Lithuania is an important strategic partner for Ukraine on this path, and most importantly, Ukraine knows and feels it. This was emphasized by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk during the meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Ingrida Simonyte.
According to him, only in the last two years the level of parliamentary fulfillment of the Copenhagen criteria in terms of law-making has increased to 68%.
"And we will undoubtedly continue to follow this path, because we realize that in this period we have a "window of opportunity". We will try to do everything to fulfill the "homework" on reforms and communicate with colleagues who are members of the European community to pave the way together," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine called the visit of Ingrida Simonyte an extremely important and timely act of solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanked the Lithuanian Parliament for the resolutions in support of Ukraine. Ruslan Stefanchuk noted that "Lithuania's voice is extremely well heard all over the world."
Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Lithuania for establishing the parliamentary group in support of the Crimea Platform.
The Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament also thanked the Lithuanian Government for the initiative to resume the rehabilitation program for wounded Ukrainian servicemen, as well as for its readiness to supply Ukraine with Stinger portable anti-aircraft missile systems.
