Oleksandr Korniyenko, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, is convinced that parliamentary reform must be implemented by at least 70-80%. He emphasized this during the interactive panel discussion "Digital Future and Innovations in the Work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine" by the USAID "RADA: The Next Generation" Program.
"There are still steps we need to take as a Parliament, so that society has even more opportunities to obtain information about the activities of the Verkhovna Rada, exercise their legal rights to communicate with MPs, discuss bills," said the First Vice-Speaker.
At the same time, he stressed the importance of introducing a paperless regime in the Verkhovna Rada by the end of the ninth convocation, so that document circulation is provided entirely in electronic form.
He also reminded of the need to modernize the voting system in the session hall.
Oleksandr Korniyenko also touched upon the possibility of remote voting in the Ukrainian Parliament. According to him, now all obstacles to its introduction in the Verkhovna Rada are in the political, not the technical plane. In addition, he drew attention to the need to launch a mobile application of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
"Our "digital face" should evolve. The Verkhovna Rada does not have a full-fledged application that would, on the one hand, reflect the content of the site, and on the other hand - would have the advantage of applications that are difficult to implement on the site," said the First Deputy Speaker.
According to him, it is in particular a push notification, which would be a tool for quick communication of information about the activities of the Parliament.
