Ukraine is grateful to the G7 and the EU member states for their support and solidarity in countering Russia's aggression. This was stated by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk during the meeting with the Ambassadors of the G7 and the European Union.
"Ukraine now needs to feel and realize the support of the world. We must show everyone that countries that have chosen the path of democracy cannot be punished for it by others," Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed.
According to him, in these conditions, the best thing to do is to properly prepare for a possible escalation on the part of the Russian Federation. Ruslan Stefanchuk also stressed that the solidarity of the G7 countries in the issue of sanctions against Russia is extremely important. He considers the implementation of a comprehensive package of sectoral sanctions against Russia's banking, defense and financial spheres to be effective.
In addition, Ukraine counts on the support of the G7 governments in combating hybrid threats and strengthening the security and defense sector.
"I am very grateful to the G7 countries for providing security assistance to Ukraine. We appreciate everyone's help, but we understand that in military aggression we must rely only on ourselves.  At the same time, we need to understand what our resource is. And we will be very grateful if the G7 countries join in increasing this resource " said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
In addition, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine invited the participants to discuss the prospects of Ukraine's accession to NATO. He added that Ukraine and its partners are now trying to use diplomatic means to help de-escalate the situation caused by Russia.
