Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk supports the idea of introducing remote voting of the People's Deputies of Ukraine. According to him, the relevant bill may be submitted to the Parliament of Ukraine after the new year.
The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine reminded that two years ago he had already put forward the idea of introducing online voting. Today, in his opinion, there are a number of challenges that are impossible to predict.
"Today, all European Parliaments have a mixed voting system. And first of all, this is due to the fact that in case of danger (pandemic, aggression of the Russian Federation) it is necessary to ensure the activities of the Parliament," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
He added that the Verkhovna Rada is the only legislative body and there is no option to gather and make an important decision for the state in case of unforeseen circumstances. That is why Ruslan Stefanchuk believes that such an important 'safeguard' as remote voting should exist in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
