One of the main priorities in the legislative work of the Parliament for 2022 will be the strengthening of democracy, as this is the main election promise of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This was stated by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk at the final press conference.
Also in 2022 it is necessary to finally reform urban planning. "The biggest corruption component is in construction. We intend to put an end to this next year," Ruslan Stefanchuk said.
The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine also stressed the need to reform the Security Service of Ukraine.
"This is probably the only serious commitment that Ukraine has left to international partners. And I am convinced that this commitment will be fulfilled early next year. Because the Security Service of Ukraine should perform only its inherent functions and not deal with economic issues, pressure on business," Ruslan Stefanchuk said.
In addition, he stressed, the Verkhovna Rada should start pension reform early next year. This was not possible on Thursday, December 16, due to the blocking of the work of the Parliament by some political forces.
Among other important legislative initiatives to be approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in 2022, Ruslan Stefanchuk mentioned the introduction of the Ukrainian economic passport, the constitutional procedure, and the adoption of amendments to the Constitution regarding decentralization and anti-corruption strategy.
