The last session week of the Parliament's work in 2021 is an occasion to take stock and talk openly about the problems that have accumulated and are most evident in the work of the legislature. Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk stated this during the Conciliation Council of the Deputy Factions and Groups.
She called for the development of ethical norms of conduct of people's deputies and discussion of this issue at meetings of the working group on improving the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada.
“Together, we are obliged to develop a common position on the same rules for responding to unethical behavior and statements of people's deputies inside and outside the Verkhovna Rada. This also applies to the requests of people's deputies. I believe that the emergence of the Code of Ethics as part of a comprehensive program to restore public confidence to the Parliament, which we call the Open Rada, should be one of the key tasks for 2022,” said the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament.
She also supported the need to resume regular parliamentary hearings in 2022.
