Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk together with Marshal of the Polish Senate Tomasz Grodzki, Vice-Marshal of the Senate Gabriela Morawska-Stanetska and Vice-Marshal of the Polish Sejm Piotr Zgorzelski visited the Bykivnia Graves National Historical and Memorial Reserve.

The leaders of the Parliaments of Ukraine and Poland observed a minute of silence and laid wreaths at the Ukrainian and Polish parts of the single International Memorial to the Victims of the Totalitarianism 1937-1941.

“It is very symbolic that today Ukraine and Poland together bow low to the victims of Stalin's repressions. After all, in the days when Ukraine is holding commemorative events on the 80th anniversary of the tragedy in Babyn Yar, it is worth remembering the crimes of the totalitarian communist regime. As Mr. Tomasz Grodzki and I noted during the commemoration ceremony, the whole of Europe should know about these terrible events so that they never happen again,” said Vice Speaker Olena Kondratiuk.
