The evaluation by the Venice Commission of the draft Law on deoligarchization will reveal possible shortcomings in it and take them into account in the future. This was stated by Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov speaking at the Yalta European Strategy Forum (YES).

The Speaker of Parliament noted that the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, as well as the four parliamentary factions, had asked him to submit the bill on deoligarchization to the Venice Commission.

“This is the first time we have seen the full unification of all opposition factions represented in the Parliament around the request to the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada to send such a bill to the Venice Commission,” he said. According to Dmytro Razumkov, sending the bill to the Venice Commission is the right decision. Because it will help to improve it.

“This will be another good point to confirm all our desire to carry out such a reform. If there are any shortcomings, they should be taken into account in the future, in order for the laws to be of the highest quality, in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine and international principles,” he added.

The Speaker of the Parliament also expressed confidence that the Venice Commission would be as objective as possible when considering the bill.
