The working meeting of Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk with Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Tomasz Grodzki took place. The parties discussed preparations for the Ukraine-Poland-Lithuania Interparliamentary Assembly, which will take place in late September-early October in Warsaw.

The Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada stressed that a new format of cooperation between the international communities - the Crimea Platform - had recently been launched. She expressed confidence that the next ‘point of contact’ of the Ukrainian-Polish agenda would be the practical dimension of dialogue based on the Platform. “We look forward to an active dialogue at the level of parliaments within the newly created Crimea Platform and our active cooperation to jointly counter misinformation. I also hope that the Senate of the Republic of Poland will recognize the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people as an act of genocide,” said Olena Kondratiuk.

She appealed to the Polish leadership, represented by the Marshal of the Sejm, not to recognize the elections to the State Duma, which Russia will hold in the occupied Crimea and in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk Regions.

Separately, the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada touched upon the resonant situation with the death of 25-year-old Ukrainian citizen Dmytro Nykyforenko in Wroclaw, Poland, after being detained by police and severely beaten. “In this regard, I appeal to you to quickly and impartially investigate this situation and punish those responsible for the death of our citizen,” said Olena Kondratiuk

The Deputy Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament also thanked Tomasz Grodzki for agreeing to take part in events marking to the 80th Anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy.
