Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk met with First Vice Speaker of Danish Folketing Karen Ellemann within the Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments. On behalf of the Verkhovna Rada, she thanked Denmark for supporting Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for supporting our country in international organizations, including parliamentary assemblies.
She drew the attention of the First Vice Speaker of the Danish Parliament to the fact that Ukraine considers unacceptable all attempts by the Russian side to attract Ukrainians from the occupied territories to the elections to the State Duma of Russia, which will take place on September 17-19, 2021.
The Vice Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament also invited the Danish Parliament to join the Crimea Platform. According to her, this is a new format of international cooperation, the purpose of which is to promote the deoccupation of Crimea, increase the effectiveness of international policy of non-recognition of the temporary occupation of Crimea, restore and protect the rights of Ukrainian citizens who fell victim to occupation, strengthen sanctions against Russia.
"All the key partners of Ukraine have expressed their support for the Platform. The consolidated efforts of the international community to deoccupy Crimea will help restore respect for established norms and principles of international law, as well as contribute to the non-recognition of any attempts to forcibly change internationally recognized borders," Olena Kondratiuk explained.
The parties also discussed issues related to the restoration of the security architecture in the Black Sea, Ukraine's defense capabilities and the development of the Ukrainian fleet.
"We hope that Denmark will contribute to the revival of Ukraine's navy. In this regard, we appreciate the support of the Danish Folketing, thanks to which Danish companies will build ships together with Ukrainian shipbuilders. We hope for successful and active cooperation in this area," said Olena Kondratiuk.
