According to Olena Kondratiuk, it is very important that after the breakdown caused by the lockdowns, the tradition of holding annual debates and thematic parliamentary events dedicated to Ukraine will be restored in the UK Parliament.
The Deputy Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament remained that in early September the Embassy of Ukraine in London forwarded to the United Kingdom Parliament the Verkhovna Rada's appeal to international organizations, governments and foreign parliaments to strengthen international cooperation within the Crimea Platform to Counteract Russian Aggression.
"So, I invite British parliamentarians to join the parliamentary dimension of the Crimea Platform," said Olena Kondratiuk. She also expressed hope for the resumption of the exchange of visits of parliamentary delegations and friendship groups to the parliaments of both countries.
The parties also discussed the counteracting to the COVID-19 pandemic, which is one of the biggest global challenges today. "I know that the United Kingdom is among the world leaders in terms of vaccination rates and the number of people vaccinated. We are grateful to our international partners who help us with vaccines, including the United Kingdom as one of the main donors in the field of the COVAX program," O. Kondratiuk said.
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons of the British Parliament Eleanor Laing, for her part, stressed that the British delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union is firmly in favor of Ukraine in matters of territorial integrity and inviolability of borders. The United Kingdom is also ready to continue to assist Ukraine in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. "Democracy must support democracies," Eleanor Laing said during the meeting with Olena Kondratiuk.
