Judicial reform in Ukraine will contribute to the European integration of our country. This was stated by Chairperson of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov during the meeting with Vice-President of the European Commission on Interinstitutional Relations and Foresight Maros Sefcovic.
"Transparent and clear courts will help fight corruption, because it will be easy for both Ukrainian citizens and businesses to defend their rights. It will also help our movement towards the European Union," he said.
Dmytro Razumkov stressed that Ukraine's geopolitical course is enshrined in the Constitution. "But to achieve the goal, we need to meet many factors. One of them is the rule of law and the understanding that the law should be one for all," said the Speaker of the Parliament.
He added that in this context, the bills that are on the agenda of the Verkhovna Rada today are very important.
Dmytro Razumkov informed that the Parliament had adopted the Law of Ukraine "On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges" and some laws of Ukraine on the resumption of the work of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine", and also noted that the draft laws on the activities of the High Council of Justice are currently under consideration.
The Speaker of the Parliament stressed that the reform of the judiciary is one of the key ones, as it will promote the development of the state in various areas, including economic, and increase the country's investment attractiveness.
As Dmytro Razumkov noted, the issue of security is a challenge not only for Ukraine, but also for other developed countries. "We appreciate the position of the European Union, the European Commission on the situation that has existed on the territory of Ukraine for many years: this is the war in the East of our state, and the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea," he said.
The Speaker noted that the EU's principled position has been helping Ukraine fight Russian aggression for many years. He also added that Ukraine counts on economic support and maintaining continued support on security issues.
