‘Official recognition by Norway of the Holodomor as the Ukrainian genocide shall strengthen our interstate relations,’ stated A. Parubii, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at the meeting with Olemic Thommessen, President of the Norwegian Storting on May 9, 2017.

A.Parubii greeted his Norwegian colleague with the 25th anniversary of establishing mutual diplomatic relations.

He also expressed his sincere thanks to the Norwegian parliamentarians for the support of Ukraine under Russia’s aggression to call it aggressor officially among the first.

In view of the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor, Andrii Parubii made also a plea to the Storting President to legally recognize it as the genocide of Ukrainian people.

The parties also raised the issue of prompt halting the construction of the Nord Stream Pipeline to eliminate the risks to European security.

The Chairman A.Parubii, heading the Ukrainian parliamentarian delegation, stayed in Norway on May 8-11 at the invitation of the ex-Prime minister of the Kingdom.
