Delivering his opening speech at the Wednesday plenary meeting, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andrii Parubii reminded people's deputies that Ukraine celebrates Children's Day every first day of summer. "This date was established by the women's international congress in Paris in 1949. This happened four years after the most horrible war in the history of the mankind — WWII," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada said.
At the same time, he noted that in the times of the war in Donbas, the issue of the children's protection is of particular importance today. "According to the data I have, a total of 68 children have been killed since the start of the combat activities in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. A total of 186 children have been wounded so far. According to the information we have, recently Russian drones have started to throw various explosive devices that take lives of adult civilians and children," Andrii Parubii said.
