Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andrii Parubii has signed the Resolution No. 3864 of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine that renames the city of Dnipropetrovsk as Dnipro, and the Resolution No. 4085 "On renaming of some population centers and districts."

A total of nine districts and 278 population centers finally obtained their new names. In particular, the Resolution renamed Komsomolsk as Horishni Plavni, Artemove as Zalizne, Dniprodzerzhynsk as Kamiyanske, Kuznetsovsk as Varash, Uliyanovka as Blahovischenske, and Tsiurupynsk as Oleshky.

Signing the resolutions, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andrii Parubii said: "It’s a remarkable historical decision letting the Ukrainians live in their Ukrainian world. It is very hard to properly bring up the patriotic Ukrainian youth living in the population centers that bear the names of the imperial executioners, who killed our fathers and grandfathers. Thus, I am confident that this decision will help Ukraine, the state, bring up patriotic Ukrainian youth."

The resolutions take effect on the day of their publishing.
