In his opening speech delivered at the Tuesday plenary meeting, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubii congratulated Hero of Ukraine / people's deputy of Ukraine Nadiya Savchenko on her release from the custody in Russia and return home.
"May 25 will always remain in our history as the day when Hero of Ukraine Nadiya Savchenko was released," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada said.
Andrii Parubii said he had the honor to know Nadiya Savchenko since the times of the Revolution of Dignity. "All of us, whole Ukraine, all Ukrainians from all over the world, the whole free world watched Nadiya Savchenko protecting the dignity of Ukraine and Ukraine's spirit when in Russia's custody. She became a symbol, a powerful symbol of Ukraine," the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada said.
"Over 700 days she was fighting, fighting for us. Ukraine and Nadiya Savchenko won that fight," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubii said and invited Hero of Ukraine Nadiya Savchenko to the parliamentary rostrum.
