On Thursday Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubii said that the draft amendments to the Verkhovna Rada Regulations was registered at the Ukrainian Parliament on May 19.
The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada said this during the presentation of the research entitled "Expert-analytical monitoring of the lawmaking process in the European Union" within the framework of the annual report of the European information-research center under the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
"The document's registration is a very important step in our joint work: the work of civil structures, Needs Assessment Mission of the European Parliament headed by Pat Cox, our workgroup formed of people's deputies of Ukraine," Parubii said.
He also said that the draft amendments include the most conflictless matters "extremely important for the organization of the work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine." Parubii reminded that tens of workgroups' meetings had been held to discuss the registration of the draft law.
The Chairperson of the Ukrainian Parliament noted that following the discussions, the draft law was signed by the heads of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction, People's Front faction, Samopomich Association faction and the faction of the Radical Party of Oleh Liashko. Parubii said that all this give the draft law a chance to be considered in first reading.
Parubii expressed hope that "next session, our calendar plan will be formed under new system: mixed [plenary/committee] weeks; work in the committees, work in the Verkhovna Rada Committees; introduction of new approaches aimed at intensification of the Verkhovna Rada's work."
At that Parubii noted that majority deputies from many parliamentary factions express their concern over the intention to introduce mixed "plenary/committee" weeks "saying that such an innovation would shorten the time for their work with the voters."
