On Monday, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubii met with the members of the delegation of the Polish-Ukrainian Friendship Group of the Sejm and the Senate of the Republic of Poland led by its Chairperson Michal Dworczyk.

The Parties discussed wide range of issues touching bilateral cooperation at the parliamentary level, and deepening of strategic partnership between Ukraine and the Republic of Poland.

Parubii thanked the Polish colleagues "for substantial support to Ukraine in current situation." He noted that "no country but Poland understands really well that the Ukrainian boys are currently defending not only Ukraine, but the whole Europe."

The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada noted that the Ukraine-Poland history is the history of joint relations and called on abandoning historical disputes separating the two peoples, and called for finding events that unite the Ukrainian and the Poles. "We won when we stood shoulder to shoulder," he said.

Parubii said that in the course of reforms, Ukraine uses Polish experience inter alia in matters of decentralization. He called for boosting cooperation within the framework of the Baltic-Black Sea Union with the participation of Georgia. "I believe it has considerable potential," the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada said.

In turn Michal Dworczyk noted that the situation faced by Ukraine today consolidates the Ukrainian nation. The Polish politician reminded that the Ukrainian and Polish armies commanded by Ukrainian General Bezruchko rebuffed the Bolshevik occupants outside Warsaw, which helped save Polish independence in XX century.

He expressed confidence that history brought many good examples of cooperation between the two countries.

At the meeting, Ukraine was represented by people's deputies Borys Tarasiuk and Hanna Hopko, Ukrainian scientist-historian / head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance Volodymyr Viyatrovych.
