On October 27, 2026, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation Oleksandr Merezhko met with Deputy Head of Mission of the Australian Embassy to Ukraine Katie McBryde.

The main topics of the meeting were security in Ukraine, the prospects for a peaceful settlement, and the further development of Ukrainian-Australian cooperation following the signing of the Agreement on Long-Term Support and Cooperation between Ukraine and Australia in September this year. The discussions focused on enhancing political support for our state in the Indo-Pacific region, as well as increasing military-technical and financial-economic assistance to Ukraine.

The interlocutors separately discussed the priorities of the legislative work of the Parliament and the Committee, along with the prospects for developing inter-parliamentary dialogue, particularly interaction within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Committee Chairman Oleksandr Merezhko expressed gratitude for the support and assistance provided to Ukraine and highlighted the importance of visits by Australian parliamentary delegations to Ukraine.

"Australia is and will remain a reliable friend and partner of Ukraine in the Indo-Pacific region," he emphasized.
