PLENARY MEETING OF THE EIGHTH SESSION OF THE VERKHOVNA RADA OF UKRAINE OF THE SIXTH CONVOCATION WAS HELD ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15

 

At the beginning of the morning plenary meeting, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, briefed on the results of work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at the plenary meetings on June 14.

 

People´s Deputies presented their proposals, appeals, and announcements.

 

The Verkhovna Rada amended the Resolution "On setting up the State Museum-Archive of Folk Culture of Ukrainian Polissia."

 

The parliament members scrutinized the ratification issues.

 

Valeria Lutkovska, Government Agent before the European Court of Human Rights, presented the bill "On Ukraine's Accession to the Convention on the Law Applicable to Traffic Accidents." The present Convention shall determine the law applicable to civil non-contractual liability arising from traffic accidents.

 

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the bill as a basis by 318 votes.

 

Head of the State Road Agency Volodymyr Demishkan presented the bill "On Ratification of the Loan Agreement (Enhancement of the Service Quality of Roads on Approach to Kyiv (Pan-European Transport Corridors) between Ukraine and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development."

 

The Verkhovna Rada ratified the Loan Agreement (Enhancement of the Service Quality of Roads on Approach to Kyiv (Pan-European Transport Corridors) between Ukraine and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development by 317 votes.

 

BYuT-Batkivshchyna and Our Ukraine-People´s Self-Defence Faction demanded that a recess be announced or the floor be given.  

 

Representative of BYuT-Batkivshchyna Faction Andrii Kozhemiakin read out the appeal of the Faction, whereby the President of Ukraine is demanded to adopt a resolute stand towards implementation of the European Parliament resolution on the case of Yulia Tymoshenko and other members of the former government. "To implement the European Parliament resolution, BYuT-Batkivshchyna Faction demands that the Prosecutor General of Ukraine should immediately cancel Yulia Tymoshenko´s recognisance not to leave the country. We also officially call on judges to set free Yurii Lutsenko, Anatolii Makarenko, Ihor Didenko, and other political prisoners immediately," the appeal reads.

 

Chairman of the Sub-Committee of the Committee on Legislative Support of Law Enforcement Volodymyr Malyshev presented the bill on amnesty in 2011 adjusted for the second reading.

 

The People´s Deputies scrutinized amendments to the bill, having adopted it in its entirety by 294 votes.

 

The parliament members put the following drafts on the agenda of the session: the bill on amendments to clause 4 of the Law "On State Social Aid to the Low-Income Families" (re Specification of Particular Provisions); the draft resolution on celebration of the 50th anniversary of death of Valentyn Voino-Yasenetskyi, Orthodox saint, scholar, surgeon, archbishop of Crimea and Simferopol; the draft resolution on celebration of 320th anniversary of birth of Petro Kalnyshevskyi (1691-1803), political and military figure, last cossack chieftain of Zaporizhzhya Sich.

 

People´s Deputy Viacheslav Kyrylenko presented the bill on the national cultural product. The bill regulates creation, certification, distribution and consumption of the national cultural product, and governmental support of the national cultural-artistic projects.

 

The Verkhovna Rada adopted the bill by 260 votes.

 

The Chair adjourned the plenary meeting.

 

The next plenary meeting of the eighth session will be held on Thursday, June 16.

 

The parliamentary hearings "On the Current State and Development of the Pharmaceuticals Industry in Ukraine" were launched at the Verkhovna Rada at 15.00.
