ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 11, PLENARY MEETING OF THE VERKHOVNA RADA OF UKRAINE OF THE SIXTH CONVOCATION WAS HELD
Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, informed about setting up of the inter-faction deputy union on cooperation with African, Asian, Latin American countries and their economic unions.
V. Lytvyn informed on the results of work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine during the plenary meetings on April 19-22.
The People's Deputies read out their inquiries and motions.
V. Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, declared that the Conciliative Council was mostly dedicated to the celebration of the Victory Day, especially the events in Lviv on May 9. He believes that despite of mutual accusations, the situation should be thoroughly discussed.
The People's Deputies upheld the proposal to listen to the report of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine A. Mohyliov on the events in Lviv on May 9.
At the request of BYuT-Batkivshchyna and Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense factions, the Chairman announced a recess in the plenary meeting.
The Chairman informed about the sitting of the Conciliative Council held during the break. The participants discussed the report of the Prosecutor-General of Ukraine on detention of the former Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko. In the result of the discussion, the Verkhovna Rada was commissioned to hold consultations with each faction as to the adoption of a respective decision.
Mykola Martynenko, Head of Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense faction, stated that the faction insisted on listening to the reports of the Prosecutor-General of Ukraine and Ombudsperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the circumstances of detention of the former Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko.
The Parliamentarians scrutinized and adopted the bill on amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine regarding the order of payment for public utility services, and improvement of these services.
The bill on the local police was presented by Anatolii Matvienko, People's Deputy of Ukraine. The bill was rejected.
The Verkhovna Rada rejected the following bills: on amendments to the Law "On Rehabilitation of Victims of Political Repressions in Ukraine" (re strengthening of the legislation on compensations to the victims); on amendments to certain Laws of Ukraine regarding motor vehicles provided for the people with disabilities (children with disabilities) as a charity; on amendments to the Law "On Minimum Level Subsistence" regarding formation of the consumer basket.
In the end of the morning sitting, the People's Deputies scrutinized the draft resolutions on setting up the Interim Inquiry Panel of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to investigate circumstances of conclusion of the Kharkiv Treaty of 2010 regarding high treason in the sphere of the economic security of Ukraine, and failure of the President of Ukraine to observe Constitutional requirements regarding social security.
The draft resolution was rejected.
At 15.00, the parliamentary hearings "On State and Perspectives of the Development of the Economic Relations with the EU (free trade zone) and Customs Union" were laucnhed in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The next plenary meeting will be held on Thursday, May 12.
