Plenary meetings of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine were held on Thursday, 23 October.
Arseniy Yatseniuk, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, opened the morning meeting and announced that on the previous day the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine forwarded a Bill on overcoming the consequences of economic crisis to The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The Bill was then forwarded to the profile committees.
Arseniy Yatseniuk invited the leaders of the Factions to hold a counsel in order to settle the order and procedure of scrutinizing the Bills in question. Then a recess was announced.
In due time, Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated that the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada forwarded two governmental Bills into the Committees and Factions, namely, "On Amendments to the State Budget of Ukraine" (Reg. No.3308) and "On Reduction of Influence of Global Financial Crisis on Ukraine´s Economy" (Reg. No.3309). Mykola Tomenko appealed to the People´s Deputies with a request to scrutinize the Bills in question within the Committees till 4 p.m., so that they could be discussed at the evening plenary meeting. Then the morning plenary meeting was closed.
Having opened the evening plenary meeting, Arseniy Yatseniuk, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, put to the vote the issue concerning inclusion of a Bill "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the State Budget for Year 2008" (Reg. No.3283) into the agenda. The People´s Deputies endorsed the motion by 233 votes.
According to the results of voting, the Bills "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the State Budget for Year 2008 and Amendments to certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine" (re Counteraction to the Financial Crisis and Funding of Extraordinary Elections of the People´s Deputies of Ukraine) (Reg. No.3283), "On Reduction of Influence of Global Financial Crisis on Ukraine´s Economy" (Reg. No.3309) with alternative Bills, "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the State Budget for Year 2008 and Amendments to certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine" were included into the agenda of the next plenary meeting.
Then the evening plenary meeting was closed.
