359 people's deputies voted in favour of appointing Volodymyr Groysman as the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
In his speech, Volodymyr Groysman stressed that people's deputies have to "restore the country, restore the Donbas, and make everything possible for people of Ukraine to be happy and wealthy" by their joint efforts.
"We have talked a lot about reforms – combating corruption, restoring jurisdiction, decentralizing the government, ensuring economic stabilit; we have to accomplish a lot of what people have been aspiring for decades", he said. "However, we shall accomplish this together. No one else will have such chance".
"We can do this only in unity, realizing that we do not have time. We shall work efficiently, professionally, and promptly", claimed Volodymyr Hroysman. "We shall transfer our Ukrainian Parliament into a drive for reforms, ensure unity of Ukrainian authorities, and support the President in such difficult time, form a professional government and support the Prime Minister, make respective decisions and share responsibility".
Volodymyr Groysman stressed that following the results of the elections, "Ukrainian, pro-European constitutional majority was formed in the Verkhovna Rada". In his words, this shows the ability of MPs "to meet the challenges".
"We need to finally look at the fate of our native Ukraine, to do everything to change the system, to make our work public, to restore faith in Ukrainian Parliament. I view this as the great task for the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine", he said.
Addressing the MPs, Volodymyr Groysman claimed "I, together with you, as the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, will do everything for Ukraine to be a successful, European, and prosperous country".
