In the course of the meeting that was a continuation of previous negotiations in Oslo, the Parties discussed the issue of bilateral cooperation, as well as cooperation between Ukraine and Norway in the spheres of energy and economy.
According to Oleksandr Turchynov, it is extremely important that as a
result of early elections the constitutional majority in the Parliament was
gained by the democratic pro-European forces. “Our country has no alternative to European and Euro-Atlantic integration, and Putin will fail to stop us on this way,” he stressed.
At the same time, Chairperson of the Parliament called “fulfillment of the Association Agreement, signed with the EU,” to be one of the main priorities of work of the new parliamentary majority.
Apart from this, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada added that despite of all the problems and “the war in the East of Ukraine, our Government works to restore country’s economy, destroyed by the previous regime.”
In the context of cooperation between our country and Norway in the energy sector, the Parties have also discussed the issue of reverse gas supplies from Europe to Ukraine.
“Reverse gas supplies from Europe to Ukraine will grant us the opportunity to stop a large-scale energy dictation and blackmailing of the Russian Federation on the energy market,” noted Oleksandr Turchynov.
In her turn, Erna Solberg expressed support to Ukrainian people and authority on the part of Norwegian authority “and all people of our country.”
“We are shocked by the processes currently taking place in Ukraine,” she said, adding that results of parliamentary elections open all opportunities for systemic legislative changes in the judicial sphere and for stable economic development.
“We know: if there is no rule of law, it is highly complicated to reach economic growth. We are ready to support you on this way,” stressed the Prime Minister, adding that Norwegian authority is ready to provide Ukraine with assistance, including financial, in the field of reforming judicial and law-enforcement spheres.
